I was a flea market the other day and a vendor had a framed Lincoln Cent set with small engravings in the shape of individual states on the Obverse of the coin. 50 in all (one for each state).......had a book explaining the set but I did not look at it. Has anyone heard of this and know its value ? The vendor was asking $30 for the set.....Should I go back and get it ?

The are simply stamped with states by a company on already minted cents. Their value remains at one cent a piece. But if you really wanted it, I'd only offer a few dollars for the set. You'd never likely be able to resell it.

These counter stamped cents were a big thing in the 70's a Company called the Kennedy mint also made cents with Lincoln and Kennedy stamped on them and at times you can find them in circulation. There value is 1 cent each, however if you would like them as a novelty then get them, I would not pay more then $5.00 for the complete set and remember these coin have no numismatic value. Bruce.

I guess I will jump in with an opinion. If it's a really nice gold plated frame it may be worth $30, I might pay $5-$10 for it if I like that kind of thing. I have never seen all 50 states together.

Just junk, pass. Usually they sell for about 25 cents each.

Unless you really love it for what it is, and realize it's probably way overpriced, I would pass on this one.

I have a couple that I found I think they are neat and I would love to complete the set, but I wouldn't do it unlessit was reasonably cheap

Bruce,
Yes it goes on every weekend. This past weekend was my first visit, so I am not sure if the same people are out there every weekend or not. There were a LOT of vendors. Cool flea market worth going to. One coin dealer out there with a lot of stuff.
Are you going to the Mesa coin show this weekend ? I am fairly new (2 years) to collecting and would like to hook up with other collectors in the area. Also thinking of hitting the Mesa Coin Club meeting on the 7th.....ever been ?
Let me know.....
