So, I have been to several coin shops up and down the southeastern coast and I have yet to come across a '64-D. Are they all on the west coast? I am pretty sure it is not an issue about whether they are more rare than the plain '64. There were over 150 million struck. Any advice?

I had the same problem finding them while roll searching. I had a few rolls of 64 P and no 64 D I traded with a member on here for mine Coin shows around me had them too, but P seem much more common around me as well outside of buffalo ny

It took a bit longer to get the in central Ahia, but there's plenty out there, about one for every two people in the country. If you don't have one, check the other guy.

Sure there are plenty minted and easily enough to find but I do wonder just how many have been actually melted since 1964. I'm kind of fussy on the condition of more recent coins. Buying a mint set to get one is an option, but if you are like me ask questions about the coins that concern you within a set. There could be distractions as some coins in mint sets can be downright ugly from contact marks, hazing, carbon spots, etc. even though they are uncirculated. Here a search result. LINK

Philadelphia here. Looked for a 64 D for months in several area shops from Doylestown to St. Davids. Ended up buying one off ebay.

unholyroller - certainly a valid question. I am fairly new. I have only been collecting for about a year. can someone show me a 64-D with the mint mark on the reverse? I thought it was centered above the date on the obverse.

I wouldn't go that far but your welcome. I'm a big fan of the Kennedy half series and have a complete set in a Dansco. I was a child when the Kennedy's were killed and remember it vividly, to me it's a great American coin worthy of pride of nation; But I'm off subject. Good luck with your set.

Thank you again. I too am quite the Kennedy fanatic, although I was born almost 20 years after Jack's assassination.

I have several I have bought though my Gold and silver store. Are they worth more than the others?

Not to my knowledge Txpilot, I am just having trouble getting my hands on one. It is the only half I am missing.
