Secondly, from the auction text: "We do not have a gram scale, but the weight of the coin is very light & also very thin compared to a normal 2003 Lincoln Cent (as shown in our picture below)." I find it hard to believe that a coin dealer doesn't have a scale. I'm an amateur, and I have a scale. Report this Post to the Staff

I'm sure he looked at this topic and pulled it because our discussion. I didn't pull my bid because I jumped the gun. I didn't read all of the description and look at all of the photos as I should have. His description didn't cause me to bid. I just need to slow down. I saw, bid and then really looked at what the coin was. I did something I know not to do. I should have done at least the basic research on the coin. That was my bad, not the sellers. I give the seller points for his retraction and explanation and as always I thank CCF members for all the post. Report this Post to the Staff

The seller went out of his way not to call it a doubled die, instead calling it doubling or stating that it looks like a doubled die. Further, the title states "Doubled Die Obverse?", as in, don't complain after you purchase this because you're authenticating this, not me. Also, if you look at his other listings, he is clearly a sophisticated dealer of coins. The pics are great, annotated with arrows, and he seems knowledgeable. Yet, this coin dealer doesn't own a pocket scale? That being said, he did the right thing, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
