The verdigris is there, and makes me kind of sad, but bring some character to the coin at the same time..

I personally grade it an EF-40. Corn kernels visible on reverse, obverse in fins shape.

But I assume the verdigris will lower the grade abit, right?
what do you think?

thanks in advance

All 1893 Liberty nickels had "CENTS" on the reverse. The change was made during the initial year, 1883, creating two types for that year only.

Yours would grade about VF-30 to 35, bold, distinct LIBERTY. Not enough hair detail for a 40, IMO.

Nice coin!

thanks guys...so the verdigris doens't make a difference in grading it?

on the bright side, I'm getting closer and closer in my grading to the more experienced graders in here.

Oh now I see it there by the date and on the reverse at the end of CENTS. Now, it probably would go VF details if slabbed but these nickels are so common worn slick that I would be glad to be the owner of yours as it is.
There is the Verdi-gone product often mentioned here on CCF that might neutralize and remove most of that without harming the coin but it would be more logical to have other coins in mind to work on if buying a bottle.
I would just put this one in a airtite capsule to arrest and protect from further loss for now. Don't try cleaning it off otherwise.
It isn't going to melt away.
