hey gang ,

Been looking over this 1882 o/s .. and a few things just seem odd to me ..

weight was ok *i think* at 26.8 grams ...

sizes also were fine when measured ..

the spots I'm curious about are near the ear , where you see polishing lines and what not .. in some of the "hair" in the area it seems like areas are "missing" .. to me seems some spots show what I think is something from casting ..

But I'm not used to seeing these coins , and hear they are pretty "pitted" and had issues with rusted dies , Could rust cause what I see (and I circled it in the photos )

thanks for any input here gang real curious . seems a tough cast to get all the polishing lines in around the ear and hair area but . who knows ..

leme know what you think ..

It's a Vam-3 mid die state before the first clash. The gouge under the ear is the dead give away Phil. The thing looks like a parking lot coin. with all the little dings in it.

Stupid parking lot coins ,

Strange how it looks .. thats what I was kinda unsure about ... it musta been parked on or something .. just odd that its only lil pock marks in certain areas ..

coin in hands not too bad , but the photos . are showing all the acne in this thing lol ..

Very weird to me , but aslong as it dosnt seem to be anything funny I'm happy haha .. (got it for alil over melt 29$)

thanks again

You will find road abrasion like this on Quarters and dimes a bunch, almost as if someone dropped them in a parking lot of a casino. Dollars are a bit rarer to see like this, I would not waste money getting it graded as it would come back body bagged as "Damaged" and it is real but not grade-able.
