I've got a 2001 volunteer dime that has die grooves on the back in the lettering and on the front side there's clashes, I was wondering what the value of this would be?

The streaks from the devices was a common occurence on this issue. Apparently, a plating problem.

Oh so it isn't that rare than? Shame. Hey would you happen to know anything about a 1942 penny missing the HP underneath the king?

Oh, yes.... excellent die clash. Probably no premium for it though.

Ortiable, could you take some pictures of YOUR coin instead of using MY pictures? I put these pictures of the 2001P Volunteer die clash months ago on that topic: http://www.numicanada.com/forum/vie...44&start=165There is only 2 known so far, so I would really like to have a proof that a 3rd one was found. I'm not questioning your find, but the fact you're presenting my coin as if it was yours.

ikandiggit, there is in fact a very goog premium on this coin. The collector with the other coin known, a coin certified CCCS AU-50, already declined an offer of 1500$ for it. Now I guess some people will start paying a bit more attention to it...

Wow! That's amazing. I wouldn't pay a premium personally for that. I would take the $1,500 and run.

I have at least two of these coins in my desk drawer. I think the issue is very common and no premium. I'll post pics later.

Are you talking about the clash or the plating JeyRey2000? Because the plating problems are indeed very common, but the clashes aren't. If you have 2 of these with clash on both sides, you're a lucky one! And if so,

I have a couple of sealed mint rolls. I may have to open them up and look for some clashes.

ikandiggit,
I see that you are " Pillar Of The Community ", but with your comments about this die clash, it seem to me that YOU have no interest for these errors. That's OK !
Fortunately, this Rare coin is very very interesting for many collectors dedicated to errors and varieties.

The moniker "Pillar Of The Community" wasn't my idea, it must have come with the number of posts. It doesn't matter what it says under my name. As for errors, I am an avid error collector. One of my pet peeves is that minor errors make it into the mainstream and a few sellers make a lot of money for a period of time. Canadian "errors" have included a lot of things that I don't consider errors. Especially Machine Doubling which shows up all the time as doubled dies (see Zoell's books). Personally, a die clash just doesn't cut it for me but that's just me. If someone likes these, go for it. I'm not stopping them from collecting them. If I find one of these, I'll glady sell it for market value.

Hi ikandiggit,
I am sure that you will agree with this : " There is no accounting for tastes " !
An error that is not important for me can be " a must " for an other collector.
That's not always question of money ( $ ), but question of interest !
