This is an 1869/1869 the thing you are pointing to on the 1 are the top and bases of the first 1 you can see the broken top of the first 8 at the top of the strong 8. The repunching of the 6 and 9 do not show well in your picture. The die was dated using a four digit logotype punch (all four digits on one punch). The date was first lightly punched, then the date punch was repositioned with the 9 staying almost in the same place but with the left edge of the punch lowered slightly and strongly punched in. that is why the separation is so visible on the 1 and hardly noticeable on the 9.

Penny we got two GREAT penny's! A nice PCGS MS-64 RB 1909 and a MS-65 NGC 1931 (VDB is that right VDB, an what does that stand for? Sorry noob question), and one is priced at 85 and the other (the Ms-65) is 600 bucks, wow! It does have an amazing red color to it, almost tone like, but I guess that is real common with old copper penny's multi colors an tones.... Its a 1864 Large cent with die crack, and not sure it it is a Two Cent Piece. It may be. We have some nice Indian Head penny's and 3 cent pieces/nickels, all in or around Civil war era of 1861-65. most all price real fair from 11 bucks up to 35 on the die crack coin is about as high as they list at..... I am taking more of a numismatic interest, and may buy a batch of dozen or so and list them in my ebay store in the next couple of weeks to come for not much more then what we sell them for, just for ebay % an all, definitely an affordable hobby these old penny's an nickels. Why not all great coins, they need to be owned an appreciated by those who collect them....

Quote: Silverhawk74: I am the Studebaker of silver collecting.... Not sure if that is good or bad My Dad worked at a Studebaker plant to earn money for college in Indiana, way back when. Said it was some of the hardest work he ever did, besides building the house he grew up in with his Dad and brother, they built every part, including digging out the foundation. My Grandfather was quite the master craftsman. Too bad it never really rubbed off on my Dad.

Yes West-coin that is a little inside joke as Studebaker made a model called "The Silver Hawk", not sure if you were aware of that or not, lol....
When I first joined this forum a member brought that fact to my attention and I have a quirky sense of humor to say the least....

Here we go of what we have in stock, SORRY no 1880 3 cent nickels. We do have five 1867, four 1865's, and two via 1866.... Large Two Cent 1864 die crack coin is real nice on inspection. Dark colored brown, but solid detail an no noticable issues.... Other 2 cent pieces we have are a real nice 1865 with great copper color, looks new and priced at 11 bucks, my grab myself that cheap and also another solid 1866..... As far as just Large one cent pieces, the best is a 1852 priced at 26 bucks and 1849 priced at 22.... Next level down we have 1839,49,51,29.... Rough shape we have a 1835, 1842, and rough 1828 with a orange copper like toning color....

Are all your Two Cent Pieces labeled as large cents? Wait! That's a rare packaging error! Add $100 to the price!
