Man, I really wanted this one but it went beyond what I wanted to pay. If I didn't already have a beautiful 1934, I would have gone all out!

That is one awesome clash on one beautiful Merc. It would have been really nice to have the clashed reverse die paired with this one. I wonder if any exist?

The reverse was clashed too, but the clash marks are hard to see on the reverse because they're mostly inside the olive branch area. The outline of the back of the head is visible on the reverse though.

Captain,
I've seen your buff. project (which I thought was outstanding) but I'm imagining you have a killer set of Mercs. Any links to some photos?

@rachums107: Clashes are actually pretty common on Mercury dimes but usually they're mostly polished off the die (signs of die polish are REALLY common), and they're not usually as clear and strong as this.

@mitchhailey: Most of them are posted in the 27 Days of Mercury dimes thread and some of the ones I've gotten since are posted in the recent purchases thread starting on page 20 or so. Here's the latest:

That 34 looks as if the hair is hanging down all over the place. Great effect. I'd like to have that one.

Cap'n,
Wow. That one that got you started is a STUNNER! It makes me want to seriously collect mercs, too. By the way, whats the deal with the '8' in your 1918-P? Is that a gouge or struck through or what?
