I just went to my first coin show ever at Nuphilex and had a good time. Picked up a Mint roll of the 1982 Canadian Dollars. What are the chances of finding at thin planchet or reverse head? Should I open it or Keep it rolled?
Opionions PLease!!

OK so I noticed the edge was wearing an decided to open this roll up. Turns out all we nice UNC! Except there were only 19 coins in the roll and 1 black planchet. Has anyone ever seen this happen. Other than the lip on the coin there is no way to tell this is even a coin. Advice on this please!

With this thing? Is it potentially worth anything more than the recycling

As long as it is a real unstruck planchet, they always sell at a premium to error collectors

Maybe I should bring it to a coin shop near my house! It came straight out of the roll and even have some clips around it too! I'll check with blue nose in mOntreal!

thanks for the info. I am probobly going to send it to an expert and get an opinion. It is also clipped numerous times so seems very rare to find this. Looks like it went through the machine and fumbled around without getting stamped. I already put it in a holder to protect it.

To put closure to this thread, I purchased this triple clipped blank planchet from JeyRey2000 at Nuphilex in Montreal, November 2012. It is a perfect match to this coin, that I bought more than a year ago... http://www.numicanada.com/medias/pi..._clipped.jpgI gave both to Sandy Campbell, and told him to try really hard to get both coins into one of those new double coin slabs that PCGS offers: http://twitter.com/pcgscoin/statuse...195873267713The grade is irrelevant. But what a cool display piece, having a triple clipped blank, and a twin coin, struck, side-by-side in a holder. I think this is a special case, where the cost of certification of a set like this, will add significant value to the errors.
