early, years ago, while searching I did get 40- 50% copper pennies, and 8-15 wheats per box,now 10 last boxes produced 9-10 copper pennies per box,no wheats,99.5% zinc..,looks like wrapped company rejecting all copper from circulation.. i wish to know, what's going on?

I don't hoard copper, but my last box (got it two days ago) had over 50% copper and about 7-8 wheats. My coin rolls are N.F. String and Son rolls, and they don't remove copper

If the rolling companies are rejecting copper, then what are they doing with it?
BTW, N.F.String is not a coin rolling company.
A more simple reason, thousands of collectors hoarding, and those wonderful Ryedale sorters piling up copper by the ton.
When I listen to LED ZEPPELIN...so do my neighbors... Roll hunting since '77 Dirt fishing since '72

Averaging 25% copper here over the past several years, couple percent decline the past couple. Some bags are partial dumps, have hit as High as 80% or so.
Wheats have declined past few years. We're never exceptional on average anyway, but a couple of major finds have been hit.
I think some of the copper hoarders and buyers are getting out of the game with sub-3$ copper

There might be another hoarder in the area using that bank as a dump bank. Try using a different branch if you can

I used to CRH cents, but I quit when my success rate went from 24% to ZERO overnight.
3 boxes in a row from my bank were pure zinc, I bought 2 other boxes from other banks and had the same result.
About 2 months ago I went in and picked up $5 worth just to see if thing's had changed and again, they were all zinc.
I'm thinking of getting back into CRH but this time it'll be nickels....

I still get about 60%~70% or whatever copper per box. just the wheats vary drastically from 2 to 20 per box. I keep throwing them back out there and they keep coming back time and again, so the copper is still otu there. MAybe I am stuck int he copper belt while there are half hunters living in the silver belt that I cannot hope to find.

I think the palces where you only find zinc pennies in boxes, may be the places where people are really just trowing them away. Otherwise there should be plenty of old ones floating around.
Then again you could be in an area where many new coins are shipped for distribution or get them directly from the fed, so you end up getting the newer ones while the older ones are deep in the back of wherever they are coming from.

Keep in mind that the numbers of Zincolns being minted are extraordinarily large relative to coppers and LWCs. Production of 2014 LSCs was around 13 billion. 1909-1958 LWCs was just about 26 billion. Factoring in obsolescence, finding LWCs is becoming more-and-more difficult and finding semi-key/key LWCs nearly a pipedream.
I was finding about 30% copper about a year ago, but the number is probably somewhere around 25% now. Copper hoarding is making some kind of impact, especially when folks here are getting pure zinc. But the larger culprit I suspect is the influx of huge numbers of Zincolns.

I'm working on an acquaintance to convince him to allow me to look through 10+ 5-gal buckets of copper cents he's hoarding. I believe folks like him are the primary reason copper cents are going the way of the dodo bird.

Is he a prepper? I mean most coins have useful metal, but a penny that has easy access copper can make quick and easy fixes for electrical things in the event of a zombie war or whatever people are prepping for.
