Petersun....It's funny how things turn out some times..

I staked a couple of gold claims within a 45 minute drive from home on ground that the claim below mine has shown good color and the owner of that claim has it for 23 years which is encouraging. (I will be doing alot of camping & gold mining this summer for recreation) Several days later while down town I ran into a miner I knew from 25 years ago. We started talking about mining which turned into "what else have you been doing" type of conversation. I mentioned I'm into coin, tokens etc. He says I have a large collection which he is interested in selling....

He was not kidding, one example he has a book of silver dollar from 1935 - 1966 with one of each (except the 1948 dollar) and a huge pile of silver dollars, 50 cents, etc. Also quite a few of silver sets. A complete 1967 set with the gold $20 coin. While going through the sets I set aside 3 of these (this 1973 set included). Paid him for the 3 sets and made arrangements to go through all of his other coins at a later date to make an itemized list, after which I will make a reasonable offer...

It was only after he left that I noticed this 1973 quarter is the large bust...Some times tis better to be Lucky than good...

This is my lucky find....

Great find! Your pic shows just how close the beads are to the rim of the coin which is an indicator that it is a large bust. The beads are the same distance from the rim on the obverse as they are on the reverse.

Thanks ikandiggit...

You are absolutely right as I also find this type of variety is easy to distinguish the small bust as the beads are a noticable distance from the rim.

Proof-Like or uncirculated? Proof-like (Large bust) costs less than uncirculated large bust.

swrbxxx....just a very short comment on the claim as I do not want to take away the subject too much..

The new claim is not proven yet as this will be the first time working it.......Hopefully it will as be as much enjoyment as the old claim. Pictures of some gold (nothing really big) found by panning attached. The real value is the camp setup, high banking & recreational value, gold is a big bonus.

Thanks and enjoy the pictures....
