hi!

First time I have posted here. I bought this coin off someone on ebay years back that claimed to accept returns and bailed after I payed :(

In any Case...I am stuck with it -- and I have always wondered...

1) real or fake?
2) Grade and what do you think it's worth?

Thanks for Anyone/everyone's help!

It you suspect it's fake, you can submit it to The Black Cabinet for attribution.

How much did you pay for it? Does it have a smooth edge with lettering or reeded?

A Capped Bust Half in this "condition" should fetch over $300 easily.

This is a relatively common piece and I don't see anything that screams fake. The obverse devices appear a bit soft but these were often weakly struck.

Assuming it is genuine, the grade would be around AU50 and the value about $300.

1) I think it is real. The die crack from the cap through stars 7-10 is my main reasoning. It should have a reeded edge.

2) EF-45 - AU-50 . . $250 - $300

Thanks for the feedback -- Yes, has reeded Edge

BH1964 -- the really weak obverse was really bugging me, thanks for the feedback -- but I purchased for the eagle side of the coin

I think I paid around $200 or $215 for it
