Good Day. I am wondering if anyone knows the origin of these 5 Canadian 1961 pennies packaged in cellophane?
My best guess is a prize in a box of cereal, although they are dated 15 years before my time.
Thanks.

It is quite possible it was a premium in a product like cereal or laundry soap or something like that. Back in the day, it wasn't unusual for companies to promote their products by including money (coins) or even dinnerware or towels etc..

It would be difficult to determine in which product this was actually used in unless you could find one that was intact with the promotion on the box or package.

I would leave them in the packet until you find out for sure, the packaging might add some value.

Smell the package does it smell like Nestles Quik?. I remember as a kid in the early 60s I think it was quik or one of the other chocalate powders put them in there tins I was always bugging my parents and grandparents to buy the stuff so I could get these prizes. Then I would eat the stuff out of the can till I found that bag of cents

Being MS, this is a neat oppurtunity to look for varities. You'd definately have a premium package.

There does appear to be some fine brown powder under the fold of the packaging; chocolate milk mix seems like a definite possibility.
Thanks for all the input.
