I put all my pre 1960 nickels back in circulation, except for the 1938P's, 1950P's, and 1955P's. Perhaps when the composition change comes, I'll consider starting again.

If I were actually searching boxes I doubt I would do this, but I currently keep all of my nickels, regardless of date.

There are many reasons, but one is to see just how many I can "collect" (hoard) from change.

Another reason is so my son will have something to search in the future. I feel that they will not be easy to get by then, whether the cause is composition change or they stop minting them.

I roll search three denoms.....cents, nickels, and halves. I turn back my "dud" cents and halves but keep ALL my nickels.....I just have a hunch when the composition change comes about there will be a surge in nickel values regardless of age and I want to be ready for it.

The only time I don't keep nickels is to trade them in for silver.

I kept all the boxes of nickels I searched (re-rolled by hand, placed in .50 Cal. ammo cans). I had too much and I figured it wasn't good for the structural integrity of my home so I turned them in.

My dump bank doesn't like me. ;)
