Spent $2 in Sacs at McDonald's for a McChicken. The cashier checked them twice but eventually accepted them.

Spent $10 in 9 Sacs and 1 Ike for a tip at El Habanero, an awesome little restaurant in Logan Square in Chicago that I went to with my wife and her family. Thinking that the waitress probably never saw an Ike before, my wife explained to her before we left that it was just an older dollar coin. The way the waitress held and looked at it, I could tell she probably was just going to keep at home. That's okay though, it feels good to just spread some knowledge about the history of our currency.

That being said, in response to shadz comment above, I'm going to try talking to cashiers when possible and ask what their policy is regarding dollar coins. If we really want this to take off, those are the people we need to convince to actually try and give them out as change to other customers.

$45,673 to go.

I went to a Burger King last year and paid with dollar coins and halves.

I went back 4 months later (because that is how their buy one get one coupon cycles go) and I again paid with halves and dollar coins and the cashier girl was the same one and she told me that she tried giving the coins I gave her last time back out as change later in the day and she had a few customers who refused to take them

I dropped $5 in dollar coins into a donation basket. Then, I exchanged a dollar coin for someone's ratty dollar bill, so they could pay a dollar to a vending machine. Later, I spent $9 in dollar coins on a box of Munchkins from Dunkin' Donuts. The cashier noted that she never saw SBA's before, so I explained what they were.

In all, I spent $15 in dollar coins today.

$45,632.50 to go.

I spent 4 prez dollars and 1 Kennedy at the club for drinks and 2 Kennedys at Rita's on 2 separate nights. I am pretty sure the young girl at Rita's the first time took the half dollar to the back to ask if they could accept it. But she did.

$45,627 to go.

If I was at a store and the cashier refused to give me dollar or half dollar coins if I asked for them as change, I would ask to speak with the manager. That is preposterous.

I spent $9 in small dollar coins (7 Pres and 2 Sacs) along with some paper bills at Walmart yesterday. The cashier counted them out a couple times after I did before ringing them up.

Those I have NO problem using, because my local Dollar Store (so many forget which one) is always asking for any spare $1s and $5s because they run out so quickly. It is jsut halves most people seem to not understand is even money anymore because there is NO place in the register drawer for them.

$10 halves: (one of them dollar stores) solar rocks (don't ask I haven't figured it out myself yet, but it was only $1 like evrything else in the store), grill cover things made from aluminum to keep stuff from falling into the grill cause it offers less gaps.

$45,594 to go!
