I spent $4.50 in halves to buy a toothbrush from a drug store. The cashier had to ask her manager what the coins were and if they accepted them. He cleared things up and now she learned about another denomination of our currency.

Wow. It's been a while since my previous trip to the United States. he last time I posted here the number was at least twice as large as what it is now. It's quite amazing to see the number go down this quickly!!

On page 240 I think Shadz posted 283.50 spent and subtracted wrong. His total was $2 too low. So the total should be $29,788 (correct me if I am wrong).

Dropped $150 in halves on Sears, Roebuck & Co towards my bill. I need to pick up a box of dollar coins next week to pay off the rest because it just takes too long with halves and the fact that they are not all the same thickness makes them harder to just stack on the counter and the cashier taking your word for it that it's all there. $29,163 to go  |

I spent $17 in dollar coins today. Here's the breakdown:
$7 for a pretzel hot dog and lemonade at Auntie Anne's in South Station, Boston.
$2 to rent a locker at Boston's Frog Pond skating rink.
$2 to buy a hot chocolate at Boston's Frog Pond Cafe.
$6 to help pay for gas.
