Hi, new to CCF. I have what I believe to be a high AU or low MS 1883 Shield nickel. Does anyone know a widely accepted way to distinguish a Proof strike from a Regular business strike? I do not think this is an overdate variety, but feel free to weigh in on that if you like. It does have a small die break between the A and M in America, indicative of one of the overdate varieties. Thanks so much in advance for any help you can provide. -Ron

Photos are a bit on the blurry side. Not sure if they are good enough to tell to much but possibly some one else here can.

1) Agreed, not the overdate.
2) Not as proof.
The rim would be much more squared off than this one.

3) Grade? No way to tell from those pix.
