Awesome pics, I should pay much more attention to the rims, I had never thought to look for rim Cuds and peels. he he the edge view of the coin looks so cool, pity my microscope gizmo doesn't zoom in that good. My one supposed to be able to do up to 200x zoom in, what does your one do. Is Ramstrike edge Duo one coin or two coins squished together, that is so unusual

Best guide for threepence errors is the 2nd Edition of Renniks Australian Pre-Decimal Coin Varieties. Excellent guide, compilied by no other than the regular error/variety article writer Ian McConnelly. You can find this book online, at coin dealers, coin shows & yeah...other places that sell books? It retails for $29.95 I think. You can get them on ebay for cheaper. Have a look at: http://www.cruzis-coins.com/Grading/variety.htmlI just learnt something new. Renniks coins guides were actually originally started by Dion H. Skinner in 1964. The name is a play on the original editors last name, it's actually Skinner spelt backwards. I've got a few threepence errors/varieties to show off. I'll try & post some pictures this afternoon.

Here are some of my coins: Very cracked up. I like the intensity of the crack on the date. Same old filled 8 but with more, see the cracks around the rim. Scarcer date with a planchet flaw under the emu's butt. Another scarcer date with cracks two cracks on each side of the scroll & beneath. My big-buy Downies style...cost far too much, I'm thinking I might sell it soon. Planchet flaw/split/lamination, interesting toning. Nice grade clip. Filled 9 in 1943. Brockage reverse, look at the A stretching out in australi A it's got a broadstrike style about it. The obverse of that coin above, stretched, odd shaping. I had a post/poll about it a while back. A similar brockage in 1953, but nowhere near as intense. The obverse of the 1953 above. Fairly doubled 1922...I'll post a bigger image & load it later. Also it has a lump above the grass on the right side of the shield.

Some very nice errors there goatieman23. I'll have some more to post later on, got to decide which ones to take piccies of. One of my filled 48's has the same 7 small Rev die cracks as are visible on yours. Starting at the 9 O'clock position, Rim to, U, 2nd A, 3rd A, 8, E, P,and T.

Quote: Is Ramstrike edge Duo one coin or two coins squished together, that is so unusual Sorry, I missed this question. It's just one coin. The 'Duo' in the title just means there are 2 images together. An excellent explanation can be found on PPH's site: http://www.australian-threepence.co...n-error.html

An indent brockage, note the incomplete design on the brockage, the coin it was struck against was an off centre error.

Quote: An indent brockage, note the incomplete design on the brockage, the coin it was struck against was an off centre error. Wow! What are the odds of that happening? Surely that has to be an extremely rare coin?

Goatieman23 Your 1948 3d with the filled date is very interesting. When I got mine I wondered how the blob is higher than the rest of the coin. In other coins (such as the 1924 filled 4 penny) a projecting piece of the die has broken off so the date is stamped flush, to end up higher like this 8 would require the piece that broke off to leave a decent cavity in the die. Is there any other possible explanation?

Wowsers, you'll have trouble storing that baby.
I remember seeing a dramatic penny error that was in pieces and was stored in a jewellery type coin box because it was a 3 dimensional masterpiece that could never be constrained in a 2x2.

That's what I call botox...that's one huge lip enhancement. Almost looks like Angeline Jolies' or Sophie Monks' lips at the moment. Very nice.
