Wish I could rubber stamp this response:"Sorry, it is a large date." Seems like there's an inquiry every day about this. I know we are supposed to help with IDs but a little research will answer the question for the poster.

Well it looked like a curved 9 to me thats the only reason why I asked if it wasn't for that I wouldn't have asked.

Every one is entitled to ask, I know I did and anyone on this site has had the same question.... LOL.

I am also wondering about how many hundreds of times this single question has been asked... imagine how many people the answers have helped.........

Looking at the 9 is so unhelpful for me. To me, they both point toward the end of the 7.

There are no stupid questions in here..it's all good...with so much info on error coins on the www, ID'ing is a lot easier & faster than ever..still, at some point, we all find it best to post with pics, just to be double-sure on answers.

This is a good example of the fact that the large date can also show a weak liberty.

If the shape of the 9 isn't good enough, try two other tricks...

1. The zero on the large date has a slight hump to its top - the small date is round on top and looks properly shaped.

2. The hole inside the zero on the small date is the same size as the hole inside the 9. On the large date, the hole inside the zero is larger than the hole inside the 9.
