Found note DJ 06 396693 today. I have no idea about grading notes. It is circulated, but no holes or tears. Is this going to be worth anything above face value? Thanks.

I may be wrong but the 06 at the start of the number rules it out as a radar

Trout, In my (extremely limited) looking at the word "radar" on ebay, I have seen them referred to as "6 digit radar" when they are like this, or "8 digit radar" when the year is part of the reversible number.

What happens if only the last 4 numbers are radar do you call that a 4 digit radar

Im pretty sure the reasoning behind it is the last 6 digits are the serial number. The first two denotes the year.

"What happens if only the last 4 numbers are radar do you call that a 4 digit radar"
- I'm not 100% on what you'd call them, but with solid serials people sell x3 as "semi-solid", so I think some gumbys would try pass off 4 numbers as something special.
When I pulled out a couple of 20 dollar notes from ATM last night, one note was 07 xxx 888 - seen the 888 first and had half second of hope.
A second note was 07 838 xxx - but I thought it said 888 initially;
Was a few seconds of fun, then I went to the bar and checked my change. Got a 2000 millenium 50c piece... moment of "what if..."
but no, not an incuse.
So really, last night I got nothing. No real purpose to this post, lol.

Ok, this is what we call a (standard) radar serial. It's commonality is 1 in 1,111. Still quite rare. Much more rare than your first & last prefixes. First Prefix 50's in 2005 are 1 in 108 & the last prefixes in that year are 1 in 154. Reasonable condition. It'd sell for a touch above face value, maybe $60 odd. If I was a new collector, I'd be paying $100 for a reasonable 8-digit radar & $65 for a standard (6 digit) radar. In UNC, I'd be paying a lot more maybe 2.5 times as much.
My terminology with notes is: SOLID 111111 SEMI SOLID 111333 RADAR 134431 8-DIG RADAR 09 133190 REPEATER 134134, 131313 8-DIG REPEATER 09 090909
Anything else is just a note. I have a $100 serial which is 624425, some may call it near-radar, close to radar or interesting number, but it's just a note to me. Near enough is not good enough. Just like nearly solid 111311. Near enough is not good enough. The best name for them is an interesting serial. With paper notes the "nearly solids" sell for decent amounts, but I think it's namely because of the signatures on the note.
The hardest thing with $50's is that the premiums aren't huge because or such a large face value.

There's also Radar repeaters, eg: 121121 etc.
life is a mystery to be lived not a problem to be solved

Thanks Nancy, I completely forgot to mention radar repeaters. Radar repeaters are very nice to look at. They're also more rare than radars or repeaters.
