Lion Daalder. It is my understanding that "TRA" in the obverse legend at 10h indicates it was struck in the province of Overyssel.

The "Dog" Dollar was one of my first purchases after I got a decent job when I was in High School. Coins like this one were made from hand engraved dies and no two dies were identical. They were also produced in large numbers for the period and are still easy to find. They are also historically significant as a very early world wide Trade dollar.

But you can spend hours on a real example of this type learning how dies were really made in the era BEFORE modern milling techniques were developed. This information is available only from studying original coins. But be aware that there are both contemporary and Modern counterfeits of this coin on the market. Now that you own one study it and others that are called real (go to a coin show for best results) and learn to distinguish the real ones from the fakes.

Good luck with this

these coins were a ''hard'' currency at the time.It was well used at trade. In the Ottoman empire were used for the economy and the word used for them was ''aslan'' or ''aslania'' from the turkish word which means lion.
