The top tier companies are generally regarded as;

1. PCGS
2. NGC
3. ANACS
4. ICG
5. SEGS

The top three are all I use myself, heck I'll buy any coin in any holder if it's right for me, but the top 2 best job at guaranteeing their slabbed coins and ANACS has fair prices for the average collector.

I've never sent a coin to ICG or SEGS. I prefer the first three too.

With the new rules coming on ebay it will now be just NGC and PCGS because those two will be the only ones you can list with a numerical grade

I couldn't believe when I was reading that e-mail that ANACS wasn't on the list of the companies it considers trust worth TPG's. For varieties and detailed coins, it's probably the best out of the bunch. I was honestly blown away...

cjtm, its because the ANACS website doesn't allow you to go and verify the cert number from the holders like PCGS/NGC do. The problem will more than likely be corrected soon and theyll be added to the list

That makes sense. I was thinking it was dependent on the validity and accuracy of the grading company. I hope they make the change so they are added to the list.

cjtm some people are buying into a conspiracy theory, but if you look at the standards they set to be accepted the only thing Anacs and IGC dont meet is the website checks. Anacs seems to indicate they will be accepted soon when they get their website going not sure about IGC or their plans. From everything I've seen so far ebay doesn't seem to be making any implications on the companies standards of grading, although they may one day have to if a basemen slabber does enough volume to qualify.

I was actually quite surprised to learn Anacs didnt have the website feature already myself. I figured that would be pretty standard by now to help identify fakes

I certainly hope that ANACS kept accurate records of their S/N's.

Lol.

I hope they did too. I believe you can call them to verify a coin so it may just be a matter of them getting it all online and searchable. Of course there will probably be the usual glitches at first speaking of which there website has been very glitchy for me today. Maybe its just my computer but they may already be putting the online part onto it

Considering they have been through four owners and five moves it might be questionable. I know they are missing some of them because several years ago someone I know tried to get some information and they were told they didn't have all the information.

Does ANACS have an on-line pop report? Yep just checked and they do. I didn't think they did. I thought that would delay them as well OK so all they need is is the certification verification and they will either be in or they will come up with another rule to keep them out. (They won't right now because that would be an admission they were being targeted. But next year when they come up with new rules....

im assuming once they get the online part theyll be good to go. its in ebays best interest to have as many legit companies as possible to make as much off the volume of sales as they can.

i didnt even think about lost records with the hands changing though. I wonder if to many are lost if theyll do some special to have your coins sent in and be registered for free
