Welcome to Coin Community, eristal. There are an amazing number of fakes of this issue - yours is the second one posted here this week. The weight of a real one is in the neighborhood of 18g.

Seeing enough of these recently to start searching for a souvenir coin being sold online.
Williamsburg - no luck.
Smithsonian - no luck (nice tie though).http://www.smithsonianstore.com/coi...l=cs&wtl1=p#
Gallery Mint Museum had a 2-R coin:

Welcome eristal! Of the genuine specimens I have seen, don't have strong border beading like yours which I've seen on all copies. The color of yours is also suspect as these were struck in pewter and genuine pieces tend to retain a dull medium grey in color.
What is the weight of your piece?

vermontensium, he said in the first post 32g

I'd say the big chip out of the rim is something to watch for, too. I don't think silver does that, and pewter doesn't shine up like that (for long)

Pewter real ones are around 18 grams, silver around 24.5 grams. In any case this one at 32 is too heavy, although it is better formed than most of the commonly seen fakes.

I'd say the chip out of the rim is where someone made a test cut in the piece.

Interesting regardless of real or fake. Makes for an intersting conversation item.
