Wow, if any of you wanted to know why we are saving copper pennies or just generally enthusiastic about a box of 2012 pennies, read the following article:

http://articles.marketwatch.com/201...-and-nickels

Say so long to our friend the penny!

I think our US Nickels will be using lower-cost metals in the production of 5c coins soon and be like the multi-ply plated steel coins in Canada. Also, once US has enough new lower-cost nickels out, they will start an alloy recovery program to melt old nickels. So I would save any new BU nickel rolls you find! Maybe 2012 will be the last year for real Nickel 5 cent coin?
the 2012 dimes are not worth the metals used to make them

Maybe. However, I am speculating elimination instead of a composition change.

I just got 5 rolls of 2012-D Nickels at COSTCO,
Here in Micigan we get mostly P rolls of new coins, So 2012-D Nickels were a surprize

Well, I sold the dime box on ebay. I've traded half the cents with half hunter for half a box of Philadelphia mint cents. I still have the nickel box sealed. The article and last few posts are giving me cause for pause on the nicks...not sure what I want to do. I guess for $100, I can just hold and see what happens.

OO
