for those of you that have responded to my last week topic " is $128.00 a good price to buy this bust" welcome back . for those of you that are peeking in for the first time please jump in. I just received my 1832 Bust Half Dollar and now it is time for all of you to grade it. I did not crop or photo shoot these pics in any way. I took 4 pics, two with flash and two without flash. In person the front does have oxidation on the ( face, neck and upper rim) the backside letter " E. pluribus unum " the "lur " is oxidized.

I will guess the grade ONLY because I received a personal invitation to do so - way to make a gal feel appreciated

I am new to this series (my disclaimer for if I am seriously off) so I will guess

XF40

I am assuming it did not come back cleaned.

I like VF35 for this. Nice detail, with a possibility of cleaning and maybe a light polishing?

Congratulations! A nice example of a wonderful coin type!!

Ed . . I still like it and am still torn between VF-35 & EF-40. I must say that Great Southern's pics do "bring out the best" in their coins. I think it's a keeper.

Still a good looking dame, debatable between VF35 and XF40.

It looks like you did pretty good with that one, it doesn't appear to be too drastically different from the GSC pictures. I would call it VF-35 as well

XF-40, I'd say. Maybe designated a 45; this, as experience tells me that the grading services tend to be more generous when assigning grades to the earlier coins. Hard to tell from the pics if it's been cleaned. Regardless, it's a very appealing type coin.

Thank you everyone for the feedback I really do appreciate it. I do have oxidation on my coin and was reading that I can get my coin cleaned and maybe polished. I'm confused because I thought that rule of thumb is not to clean or polish your coin someone please explain this to me if I can or cannot. if I do have an option to get it cleaned I will.

DO NOT EVER clean this coin, or any coin. You would instantly destroy it's value.
It's very nice as is.

Good decision Ed. Shiny is not always better on a circulated coin. It is what it is after 180 years & that is the beauty & the history of the coin. We can only imagine where she had been until somebody decided to put her away for the future (which is now).
