I cant tell whether this is just wear or it was Struck Through Grease. Theres something odd about it and I cant pin point it.

I'd say just a lot of wear.

Wear plus corrosion perhaps? Could be a ground find. Even if it were a struck-through-grease error the very poor condition would make this a cull piece IMO, worth the silver content only.

Most likely a contemporary counterfeit
Very nice, and collectible.

Get an accurate weight on the coin and if there is more than 10% variance, a contemporary counterfeit is a likely scenario. At that point, the Specific Gravity of the metal would need to be measured to truly determine that it was not 90% silver.

I saw a Barber dime like this once, and it turned out to be counterfeit. You could actually bend it!

I agree that their is something odd about the coin. But with the amount of wear it might be hard to pinpoint the cause without going to more trouble than it is worth.

As grainy as that appears to be, I have to go counterfeit as well.

Counterfeit was my initial instinct but I didn't say anything because neither counterfeits nor barbers are much in my wheelhouse. But the crude appearance does make me think a contemporary fake is likely.

It could certainly be a contemporary counterfeit. That kind of wear wouldn't happen naturally unless it was *really* struck oddly or was exposed to a very unusual environment.
Certainly get the weight to a 1/10 of a gram and that'll be very telling.

Awesome guys. Thanks for your input. I'll have to figure out where in the heck I put my scale.
