Sorry about the small photos. I don't have it in hand yet. What grade do you think it got?

Can't make up my mind if this coin is MS60 or EF58. Can't quite detect if there is any wear or not on Lady Libery's right boob. A 'star' coin for any collection!

MS-62... Seems to be a bit of chatter in the fields, but if it's the holder, then it would easily be a MS-63... Beautiful

Quote: Seems to be a bit of chatter in the fields From what I know of the coin, its safe to assume the chatter is in the fields. I'll give this one just a little longer and then post the picture with the grade.

Grading wise this is going to be an interesting exercise.
You already know the NGC grade. Obviously, you are going to get a range of opinions here, and perhaps an average opinion can be drawn from that, then compared to what NGC says. The difference between the average of our opinions and the NGC grade should give us all an idea if our opinions need adjusting, relative to NGC.
That does not necessarily mean NCG is right, but their opinions are respected by collectors, or they wouldn't be used.

Hard to tell from the small images. It could be AU+ or it could be low MS too.
If I had to take one guess: AU58.

Like others have said, its hard to tell from the pics but I don't see any wear so I would estimate this one is low MS. Very nice coin!

I hope everyone will forgive me for throwing you a bit of a curveball. This is one of the coins brought up from the wreck of the SS Republic, and NGC sent them back pretty much ungraded (although at the time I bought it, I thought the 50c meant a grade of 50 but cleaned). I'm a little retarded at times... Anyway, this one looked better than most others I've run across. I'm expecting it in on Monday and will take some better photos to get your opinions on where it should really be. It sure is a pretty coin considering the fact that it spent several lifetimes laying on the ocean floor...although my wife wasn't amused when I mentioned that sending it on a cruise with her would greatly enhance its value if the boat sank.

Here's a better photo of the obverse. Any opinions on where it should be graded would be welcome.

...and here's the reverse. For some reason I couldn't get them both in the same post.

Did it go through Numismatic Conservation Services first to decon it? Not sure that I like the haze/cloudiness on the reverse legends especially on HALF.
No value assigned because of the NO GRADE ASSIGNED?
I would go out on a plank and say AU58 (environmental damage details)
I would like to obtain a meaningful pedigree coin, yours is a beauty!

Thanks for the reply oih82w8. The haze/cloudiness on the reverse is most likely due to galvanic corrosion. In hand those areas look frosted, but I'll have to work on my lighting setup to make it show the same way on the computer.
