This one I believe will be going in to my key/semi key date type set. What grade would you place?

Looks to easily have VG10 details just missing F12 because LIBERTY is not quite complete, but then on the reverse that rim damage and scratch near UNITED and over the D bring it down to VG8 levels at best.
A keeper for sure tho, it isn't easy to find these nickels with much detail unless you fork out the dough.

From our CCF Coin Facts:

Liberty Head "V" Nickel General Grading Standards

G4 Good- No details in head. LIBERTY obliterated.

VG8 Very Good- At least 3 letters in LIBERTY readable.

F12 Fine- All letters in LIBERTY show.

VF20 Very Fine- LIBERTY bold, including letter I.

EF40 Extremely Fine- LIBERTY sharp. Corn grains at bottom of wreath show on reverse.

AU50 About Uncirculated- Traces of light wear on only the high points of the design. Half of mint luster is present.

MS60 Uncirculated- No trace of wear but can have many contact marks. Surface may be spotted, or luster faded.

MS63 Uncirculated- No trace of wear. Light blemishes.

As much as I would like this beauty to be Fine, I have to go with VG-10 due to the missing LIBERTY letters.

Tough date with 10.2 million minted ... technical grade based on wear IMHO is VG08 as suggested above.

The noted reverse PMD might or might not relegate this coin to a 'details' grade ...

Thanks for sharing a tougher date in this under-appreciated series.

Next one I'm going to try and pick up from this series is the 1912-S if I can find a decent one reasonably priced

VG10. Not going with a details designation but there looks to a little PMD on the reverse.
