Hi All, Picked this up from Pacific Coins Auction as a raw coin. Very nice coin to look at, and I'm thinking of sending it off to PCGS for slabbing. Was sold as choice unc. Really have no idea what to expect from PCGS, hoping to get a bit of a heads up to maybe ruin the surprise. Cheers -rob

I would rather have THAT coin in that condition than a 'roo rev. in lesser condition. Ch UNC.

Very nice coin! I have noticed that the 1938 and 1939 with the old reverse but KGVI obverse seems to turn up in very good condition quite often. Probably something to do with them being unique and being saved. This one is exceptional though and I think could do well being sent off to pcgs.

this photo probably shows the colour a little better there is still a fair bit of brightness in the coin. In another topic, it was mentioned the 42 and 44 1/2 penny are probably harder to get in good condition than the 39 roo, so that'll be the next on my list to find.

It is very beautiful! If you plan on selling it again its probably worth getting it slabbed. If you plan on keeping it and the rest of your coins are raw then leave it raw.

very nice coin rbarat, as for pcgs grading , it must go close to ms64rb, but I am only guessing and hopeless on the coppers , so wait for the real experts.yep very hard to do from photos tho. Goodluck

Here's a PCGS MS64RB for comparison. Would be an extraordinary 1939 1/2d to get a MS65 at PCGS because they just don't have the lustre PCGS weigh so heavily. The one below was probably held back from the MS65RB grade because of the carbon on the obverse. It's an easy ANDA GEM and I have never seen a better one.

Markn, magnificent coin. I love the carbon streaking, gives the metal a woodgrain look. The few biggers mark on my coin are on the obverse only. On the base of georges neck, there is a scratch or metal flaw that only shows on certain angles which continues onto the field, and then his eyebrow has the slightest ding. I'd like to slab it to protect it from me, lol. I'd be over the moon with a 64, and at 63 well i'll deal with it as it happens heheh.

I tell a lie, on the reverse there is a small nick hiding under the metal marking above the N in ONE. Between O and N, is just fluff

Got the result back earlier this week for the coin. It graded MS64RB so I'm pretty happy. Good call Bellyflorin.. Maybe you should get into coppers..
