Hi guys

Fake 2004 and 2005 Toonie's are not that hard to recognize if you have a good eye. Here is another way to see if it is fake or not.

Using Gwyddion software (SPM Data Visualization and analysis software) which is free for you Windows users at the link below...then scroll down the page.
http://gwyddion.net/download.php

Look at the graph results of a real versus a fake 2004 Toonie.
It measures the curvature of the coin.

So the position of the bear in respect to the outer 'Canada 2 Dollars' part ie. 85.45-84.06 = 1.39 degrees? Couldn't there be that much deviation from the mint?
Rest in Peace

you know what timotay01, that had crossed my mind, and there has to be a factitious percentage of plus or minus to adapt to this program...Say 5% + or -.

The program does a descent job of pre centering itself on a coin...Remember, it is just an additional tool to use. It doesn't replace common sense and the human eye.

I just post these computer software programs to get everyone thinking that maybe (MAYBE...?) we should add to the traditional means of coin analysis.

BUT THEN,I AM NO EXPERT.

You know what timotay01, maybe I should create a poll to see if the coin people out there embrace new technology or rely on what they have been taught.

I followed your link, installed the software and I've been playing around with it for the past hour...very cool, I can see this being a major tool. I like the 3-d graphic's easy to use and it just dawned on me I think I'll try a bill. I think it could help in spotting fakes of all kinds not just money. Thanks for another great software link Wert
