I'd say acid corrosion. Looks cool though.

caused by severe corrosion and the subsequent scrubbing that revealed the natural grain of the alloy

The missing rims screams acid dipped. It is probably the size of a dime in thickness also.

cool enough coin. does anyone wonder what "life story" a coin could tell, of its life. I have found a few low grade coins that just seem to scream "character" about them. wouldn't it be fun to see how a coin came to be the way they end up. probably true about most or all of us as well. maybe we are a reflection of the things we find interesting.
