Recently I decided to put an ad in the local newspaper asking for coins & banknotes...the results were great, I've had above 10 enquiries & I purchased some items from people today.
Here's a picture of what was secured in my two deals:

The prices I offered were about 70% of silver spot price & they were happy with what I offered. I think it's a fairly honest price considering the amount it'd cost to sell these items individualy on
ebay will leave them with less money in their pocket...
is cash still king? It has to be if we're on this forum

My today's prices ended up being:
DENOMINATION I PAID EA.
Round 50c $7.50
3d Pre $0.80
3d Post $0.40
6d Pre $1.50
6d Post $0.80
Shilling Post $1.50
Florin Post $3.35
Penny $0.10
Halfpenny $0.05
Overall on the silver I paid just under 70% of Silver Spot Price. I think that's reasonable as I am collecting...forever. Am I trying to justify it...no...I don't think I should be. The addiction will live on.
There were about 400 majority pennys & a few halfpennies, not many oldies, there were a few planchet cracks/flaws, a 1922 Indian Die, a 1942 Bombay Penny without the "I" mintmark on the obverse & some stunning coloured 1960-1964 Pennies (which I'll look at tomorrow, impossible to see true colour in synthetic light).
I purchased a set of coins from one of them which had:
the rennicks folder had
1966 - 1976 (in VF-aUNC condition) sets put together with all the denominations made for the year, I paid $4 per year
1977 - 1999 Mint Sets, which I gave him $15 for each, the lovely 1990 was in that bunch & the 1994 was a wide date which was a nice score. CV of $1,019 which cost $345. Then again what do we believe the real price should be based on CV?
I got a 1988 Bicentenary $10 Polymer in folder for $15
& a $2 Last issue folder with an UNC $1 & $2 note in it for $5.
There's no bragging rights, just making a better situation from something that potentially wouldn't have happened.
The best part! The original orange RENNIKS (Skinner) folder!
