Are you looking to buy one from someone? I think 15% under spot is fair

Depends what you want to do with it. Do you want it to have some gold or as a collactable piece or to make a buck?
I would rather buy a nice sovereign but I've noticed you collect a lot of the more modern stuff so this might be more up your ally. If you just want to hold some gold then it probably isn't too bad.

Well, nope, I just dont have a gold coin, and its something I want,
I was looking for a sovereign, maybe just a 1915S/M/P cause being in the military, that year has a lot of significance, but I was after quite a good grade and havent seen any pop up. Can you recommend where I could find one uncirculated or near?

If you live in reach of the Sydney CBD I could recommend a few places.

I think you'd be lucky to find one for under spot unless you're a dealer.

If you dont mind buying online I can recommend two sites: - Jaggards ( http://www.jaggards.com.au/shop/pro...ategoryid=8) has three 1915's in UNC and choice UNC for $525 and $535 respectively. - KJC ( http://www.kjc.com.au/fcat.htm) have a few on this page and the next. You will need to call them up for a quote though. To my knowledge KJC and Jaggards are both owned and operated by the same people so you can expect them to have similar prices. In regards to sovereigns they have a wide variety and are suited to collectors looking for specific dates. However, their stock is often priced above cat value and they are usually unwilling to bargain. I try and avoid buying from them because their prices are highway robbery, but if I am desperate I would possibly consider dealing with them. I dont have the catalogue on me, but I would imagine that their asking price on those sovereigns is probably high. So if I had access to other dealers I would shop around for something better. But if you dont have access to coin stores and your only other avenue is ebay, then I would consider KJC/Jaggards based on reputation.

prices for those sovvies are spot on cat for unc, and cheaper for choice, the 1913S in choice is $50 under cat, but then again, how accurate is CV?

More importantly how accurate is their grading? I looked at and am still thinking of getting a 1915S half sovereign. Theyre common and arent to expensive even at ms64. They are easy to find on the net and I've seen quite a few on ebay in ms-64. Heres one that isn't UNC but still nice http://www.ebay.com:80/itm/ws/eBayI...p=true&rt=nc

estimated $490 bullion value today You can usually get them on ebay for about $20 over spot (including postage), sometimes a little less. Be patient as there are always lots for sale (especially the 1980 which had a mintage of over 200,000). It would also be the only time I recommend that you bid early. I like them as they are part of our history now and ounce for ounce they are the cheapest way to get gold coins.

Well for a coin this price, id prefer unc at a minimum, especially when the markup is not significant.
