Got two things in the mail I ordered from Amazon. First item was a 2001 Mint Proof US Set. Arrived no problems. Second item was supposed to be a 1999 Mint Proof US Set. This is a screen shot of the Amazon item listing from my receipt: And what I got was a Denver and Penn Circulated set in envelopes, and the coins were in some kind of weird plastic that resembled clear medicine pill packaging. Tried to take some pics on the phone and upload them but couldn't get the image optimizer to upload them to reduce the size. Started the Amazon problem process. Glad it didn't cost me too much, and fingers crossed the last item arrives correctly.

Sounds like you got an US Mint Uncirculated Set instead of the Proof Set you ordered. That is the packaging they come in.

Amazon is great for returning items. I've done it on a few items and it doesn't cost anything to return it. You just print a page and put it in the package and UPS will come and pick it up for you at your house. Just follow the instructions. Sorry to hear they confused the proof set with the mint set. It does happen from time to time. A lot of dealers don't know the difference, which is really sad. Usually they have a helper and they are the ones that confuse the two, since they know nothing about coins. Hard to believe, but many dealers have helpers that know absolutely nothing about numismatics.

Keep us upgraded on the results. Good to know how this works out for those that use that service.

I've had good experiences with Amazon returns, though usually it's because UPS destroyed the item. It may depend on who the third-party seller is though. Some sellers use Amazon for fulfillment, and they probably would handle returns the best. Others just use Amazon as a higher-profile storefront, and they're a bit more of a crap-shoot.

Sellers are good about refunding, because they know the option is AZ will refund everything, no questions asked.

Just got an e-mail today from the seller: "Sorry for the mistake, but if you will go http://www.amazon.com/returns and print you a return label , when I get it back I will issue you a full refund. Again I am sorry for the mistake. THANKS" So will print the label tomorrow at work and send it off. Hopefully get a full refund, minus having to buy a new shipping package (not too sure if the one it came in will work, it was pretty taped up and it took some effort to get into). @Biggfredd: Thanks for the link, but I'm pretty sure Irfanview doesn't run on a Mac?

@Jbuck: I was trying that last night, it would tell me the image was uploading... sit there for a few minutes, and then it was giving me a server error message. Might have been my internet also (Netflix off the PS3 was having the sound not syncing up with the video). Will try again after lunch (assuming I can find how to upload an image to a post that isn't the original post. Been a while since I've been a member of a forum). =)

Quote:Thanks for the link, but I'm pretty sure Irfanview doesn't run on a Mac? Q: Can I use Irfanview on Mac? A: Yes, probably. There is no native-Mac version of Irfanview. However, you can use Irfanview in conjunction with Mac program like WineBottler/DARWINE. Take the ZIP version of Irfanview and unzip it or copy your existing Windows Irfanview folder to Mac. This is easier because the installer may need additional Windows DLLs to run.

If you are feeling ambitious... GIMP on OS X. Supposedly runs native without the need for an emulator.

Just dropped the return package in the mail this morning (cost me $2.46 in shipping). We will see when they get it and refund the money.
And now of course, the other mint set showed up missing the COA that was said to be included. Sent them an e-mail Friday. We will see if they respond.
