I just got my latest purchase from Provident today. It is 4 tubes of 2012 silver Maple Leaf coins. This raises my hoard to 1,034 ounces or 70.8 Av. lbs. I feel the need to celebrate!

I knew you'd beat me, bud. And I had a 1 1/2 to 2 year head start! Still stuck at 930ish. I'll cross the finish line sometime in early to mid-2013, I hope. Guess it's time for you to start eying gold bullion, right?

So, do you keep those all at the house?
I hope this works out for you; I assume you scaled into this position over time and thus the avg. cost of the silver was lower than the current price?

Congrats, Ed! Once the monster box of Silver Maples I bought last week arrives (should be today), I'll be joining you in the 1000 oz club. Of course, now that silver has dropped below $30, I can't help thinking about getting some more...

I'm sure that you will, CC1. Just keep buying those dips and add a few ounces here and there as you can. It all adds up and in not all that much time.

Oh, yeah... as to pics... sorry guys n gals but my hoard is split up in 3 places so it would be difficult to gather it up for a photo session. I have posted some pics as I built the hoard, though.

Heh, well, Traevin, you are ahead of me because I had no idea which of us would get here first. Sometimes, a special deal or a price dip comes along and we just HAVE to add some to the hoard.

Thanks, Hawk. You played a role in all this too, you know? Reading your posts was one of the things that spurred me on... so, THANKS!

Yes, I do as well, Ztt2. I have a safe and it is bolted down to a concrete slab as well as to the wall. I have also split the hoard 3 ways, with about 1/3 each in a CU SDB, my son's safe, and my own safe. Layered security is always good and so is distributing it to more than one place. Nothing is perfect, though, so we just have to do the best we can.

That would be nice or perhaps even higher. If not, then this will serve as a good way to stave off the effects of inflation. Cash has a way of shrinking with time but this should hold its value pretty well, given the fundamentals of silver in today's world.

Thanks, Angel. I appreciate the comments. I also take pleasure in the nice additions that others on here have for their collections. So many of the items photographed and posted here are just genuinely beautiful and collectible coins, bars, and rounds.

Thanks, Barry. Your collection is really amazing. I have drooled over the monster boxes of ASEs and SMLs for some time now but haven't made a buy that big all at once. I usually buy the dips and add a few or a hundred ounces when I can. It's really strange. I have a very hard time spending money after so many years of building wealth. It just seems unnatural to be spending instead of collecting and building. With silver, though, it doesn't feel at all like spending. It's more like converting one kind of money into another kind.

Thanks, Trip... indeed it is!

If I ever have it all together in the same place, I will be sure to get some photos. Doing that would make me kind of nervous, though. I like to keep it dispersed and locked up!
