That is awesome brother. In the end 1000 turns out to be just another number. The real question is which one of us will be the first to get to 20 oz of gold? LOL

Now that is a goal worth setting, lol....

However, science better extend the average age of death big time in the second half of my life in order to get that done, lol....

I can see the headlines now.... "The self proclaimed Studebaker of silver hoarding finally completed his goal of 20 oz. of gold just before his death, as he most unfortunately met his demise in the parking lot on the way out of the coin shop with that last oz. tightly in hand at age 168. So tightly in fact, the fire department had to bring in the jaws of life to pry the ultra high relief double gold eagle from his skevy hand."

So if Silver prices go up $3 dollars you could realize a $3100 profit. then you could wait for the next dip and repeat.

Great call 1893-S an just think if you took that 3 grand each time an put it in high grade pre 33 gold via the 3100 profit, an put the main bulk right back in the silver an repeated the process three more bucks to the north....

Yeah SilverHawk, can't beleive folk hold onto bullion, especially without Numistmatic value. It's there to make money on, not to stare at. I think that's what Midas did, although I could be wrong about that story.

Well, technically, I'd say all modern bullion that qualifies as uncirculated and hasn't been mishandled or abused has to have some numismatic value. It's just not necessarily as interesting or desirable as pre-33 gold.

I can't fault folks for buying modern gold eagles or maples, especially when starting out. It's the safe play. Sure, pre-33 gold is just as easy to buy. But learning to buy the right pre-33 gold at the right price? That takes experience and a lot of work on the buyer's part.

Congrats. If I combined all metal content (gold, silver, copper, etc), it probably would not be half of your silver stash weight.

Indeed I do... and it is about time to get on with that shopping!

Thanks, TBK. Yeah, I know what you mean about it being just another number. It is that for sure. Needed to have some idea of where I was going with it though and just picked that one. Now that it is here, I still have an itch to buy some silver. lol

Not a problem, Hawk, for there IS another possibility. Suppose that 5-10 years down the road, silver is in VERY short supply, the price goes WAY up, and we can trade silver for gold at a VERY favorable ratio.

That would be possible but shipping costs will take a big bite out of that $3 per oz. if we have to ship it. Also, who says that there will be another dip? There probably will be more dips but there is no guarantee of that. This is my financial "Oh, S***!" insurance. Would hate to cash it in for fiat only to have the dollar and / or economy crash at that particular moment.

It can be there for any number of reasons. You have yours and I have mine and neither of us is right or wrong.

Thanks, Fuzzy. Everyone starts somewhere and is at some point along the path we all trod. Where we are is less significant than the fact that we ARE on the path!

thanks everyone:)

coincollect1: I ordered them from APMEX shipping cost is 30, weigh handling 0.2 each, still at least 5 dollars cheaper than colonialacres' 49.95.
