Went to the bank today and asked if they had any Kennedy Halfs...they had $20 in the vault and one of the tellers had 3 in her purse...:) Haven't had time to check them out yet...but getting ready to do it.

They are 70, 80 and 90's and 2 bicentennials.

Sometimes I wish I lived in the States so I could go through half dollars, ours were changed in size when we switched from silver so I'd have no luck here.

No silver. Lots of 1971 where it could have been 40%...but no luck.

Highly unlikely for 1971 40% halves to exist. Impossible for 71 Philadelphia as they never struck any 40% halves in Philadelphia. Unlikely for 71-D's because Denver hadn't struck any for circulation for two years and there was only one small run for mint sets in 1970. A single small run like that makes accounting for all the blanks a lot easier.

Wadda ya mean better luck next time! Looks to me like he has a good start on a set of Kennedy halves. Unless of course his sole intention was to melt my hobby, then of course I'm happy he found no silver.

True. I should have been a bit more postive in my reply.

I believe (okay, hope) that most silver hunters know there is no need to melt their silver finds. Now I feel queasy!

Ask your bank if they can order you a box of halves. I used to do this and I think they came in boxes of $1000. They were glad to order for me but didn't really like me bringing back the rejects,ha...
