Looks like it was harshly cleaned and scratched, and is now retoning. Nice high grade, but too common to justify professional conservation.

The toning is not a plus for this coin but it also does not look like a typical "problem" (such as fingerprints or environmental damage). Otherwise the coin has strong AU detail and a sharp strike. It appears to retain some luster. I could see AU-50 or AU-53 but the toning might reduce the appeal for some collectors.

I think the coin has AU details. I think the coin may be have been cleaned because the surfaces especially behind Liberty appear lifeless. The stars above the eagle have that halo that is often found on cleaned coins. The toning is also not the most attractive.

Thank you all for your feedback! I was not planning on sending it in to a TPG, because I am certain it will come back in a body bag. Oh well, I'll just list it in the store... Maybe someone is looking for one like this...
