You have a very nice collection of coins there. I especially like the 1931-S Cent. That is one that I am missing in my Whitman folder. Hopefully not for too long!

Quote: I do not know why they were graded though. I know some are key dates, but of poor quality. Ummmm, really? Because he WANTED to. Because they are key coins that are counterfeited. Because the Martian mole people told him to. Sheesh. Nice commentary. qk, AWESOME coins dude! VACookey is over here drooling at her computer. LOL

Oops, just noticed I uploaded a wrong pic. The obverse 1836 capped bust pic should have been the 1939-d Walking Liberty half. Here's the right one since I'm not sure how to go back and edit my last post.

A comment on the 1842 $:
I do not see an obvious scratch, unless ANACS is talking about that TINY little whatever under the chin. Coins of the Seated Liberty Series often come cleaned. A MINOR scratch, and I really don't see one, does not detract from this coin as its eye appeal is quite pleasing.
I totally agree with your philosophy and your goal, qkbird. Stick to your guns!

Is there a web site that tells all of the key and semi key dates for coins? I have no idea other than morgans and wheat pennies what the key dates are.

Question:
How can you tell the S/S on the 20c? Through a loupe? Is the doubling very noticeable?

Thanks again for all the replies. As for the "scratched" listing on my 1842 Seated dollar, There are some very old scratches on both sides. On the obverse, they are very light and between liberty's arm and the stars. On the reverse they are very old as well and between the eagle and lettering. They are all very old and toned with the coin. To me they look like normal scratches and stuff from being in circulation which doesn't bother me. I just like the color of it and that it wasn't listed as "cleaned".
