How does one even appraise such a monstrous haul w/out being there and going through it in person?
Can anyone here put an estimated price on this auction?

No clue. I think he has some great items there, but at the same time alot of circulation stuff. Guessing he's selling the lot as 1 auction since some stuff like the silverware and gold coins are easy to sell, where as the clad proof sets and maybe artwork are hard to get rid of.
Either way was fun to go through those pics!

My thoughts T as seeing all that old currency. The fluctuation in value can be just a few bucks over face to tens of thousands over on some of that old money....
What a cool collection of history, man I would just like to have the honor of going though it an cataloging an attempting to appraise its overall value....
The timing of sale is not so great, as I can't help but wonder how high it may go if silver was at 50 an gold 2 grand per oz.....

@ Amida,
That's interesting, if its the exact same stash, then does it mean this person's account was hijacked?

There's a lot of foreign coins there and other clad and plated proofs mention before. I don't see the value as high as it should be from my point of view, that said without actually examining the lot personally.

Scammity, scammity, scam, scam. Did I mention it's a scam? All right, maybe not as bad of a scam as if they simply took your money and gave you nothing in return, but it's still pretty scammy. Ever notice with these auctions that, despite supposedly spending "over 2 1/2 Months just to photograph and create this listing," the sellers can't be bothered to actually, you know, just list what they actually have for sale? Instead of just showing a huge stack of bills with a $500 note showing on top, why not tell how many bills are for sale and what the denominations are? Instead of showing a picture of a massive pile of coins, why not just state how many and what type? Things I noticed right off the bat:
- The two gold coins they feature prominently in the pictures are both 1/10 ounce coins.
- The huge piles of coins contain a heck of a lot of (probably worthless) foreign coins.
- There seems to be a large number of non-sliver mint proof sets that are worth no more than face value.
- All the silver serving ware is apparently plated and not solid
I could go on and on, but this whole auction (and others like it) are monuments to form over substance. Lots of flash, but little actual meat. Don't get me wrong - -I'd love to own most of the stuff pictured, but probably for about 1/10th of the value the seller is hoping to get.

Thanks to the link oih82w8 supplied, we can postulate that the auction's final sell number being somewhere between $22 and 35K. But like barryg said, some of this hoard isn't very valuable, especially the coin portion. It would have been nice if the seller had at least counted out the cash and broke it down in denomination and year. That she didn't points to a possible sign of deception. That speaks volumes about the true value of the remaining items. I'd still "guess" there is 12-15K work of value here. If so, the seller will likely double her money. Maybe net 1-2K, perhaps? Again, just a guess.

I will admit the various rings look nice, but I really know nothing about them and wouldn't know the difference between a $2000 diamond and a $20,000 diamond if it bit me on the butt. Once again, why not just state what the carat and clarity is instead of just posting pretty pictures?

Wow, amazing auction, but like others said, no way to really put a value on this. One thing that is really clear is the artful way they pictured things. Notice how many pictures feature a $500 bill, for example and it is exactly the same bill photographed in different ways, with different things in the background. making you think this auction has many $500 bills, but there is just one. That same example is used for many other aspects of the auction- to make the lot look a whole lot more enticing.
One could debate whether this is potentially deceitful to make the auction look like it has more stuff than it really does. Just provide a detailed iemized list along with the pictures so we know exactly what we are getting! if you are going to spend 2.5 months writing the auctions, photographing etc (the length of time I really doubt), then add the itemized list as well- that should only take a day.

I would NEVER in my life bid on something like this. Interesting? Yes! Worth Investing in one shot? I'll pass and roll the dice on 100 oz bricks instead.

Yes we also got it shut down the last time the seller listed this rip off. It was only about a month ago. It was reported as a hijacked account and after it ended, ebay removed all the bids. Here's the old thread.eBay should shut the seller account down. I suppose it draws internet traffic. If this was your ebay account, wouldn't you want ebay to shut yours down? Old topic titled was on ebay and came across this!https://goccf.com/t/114118

Personally anyone that would bid $15,000 for items they do not even know what they are getting had rocks in their head. (Just my 2 cents)
