It was struck through scrap/debris, almost impossible to say what it was unless the object was retained on the coin. Of course, retained struck-through errors are quite desirable and can be fairly valuable depending on the retained object.

I agree, looks like a strike-through.

Ahh that is pretty darn cool !! Haha John1 - Got'em all buttoned up in a Nice new 2x2 !! and now Labeled with a proper description other then- "something odd , need to find out what happened" lol Never found a strike-thru before , and looking through my "offical Guide to Mint Error Coins" **By Alan Herbert- I found that the best description would be - **III-K-11 , Struck through Miscellaneous Objects ** not a major value factor (which I dont mind lol) .. But pretty Cool to read up about them , never knew they cleaned Morgan dollar Planchets with Wood Fibers lol ... And I checked out the mentioned ** 1804- Half Cent with the "Spiked Chin" caused by a Small screw .. Some neat stuff , Just got the book today and once BioKemist6 mentioned the "Strike through some kind of object" gave me a better idea of what to look under ... Thanks again gang .. Phil \m/

It A "divot" ... Pretty deep , and oddly shaped ... Wish I could have seen what was "struck" into it .. for the life of me I cant think of what would make that impression/divot .. really something odd to me.. I've seen "Wire" strike thru's as well as "cloth" but this is different thats for sure.

It could be a rim burr from another planchet. They tend to look like that.

Very nice find! You are lucky. I've never found one after looking through over 25,000 cents the past 5 years.

Ahh that does look like a close enough match to me COOP !! Searched and saw a few coins with the "rim Burr gouge's" .. Thanks for the insight \m/ .. Thx Jbuck/Wquinn ... "Daniels" .. If the offer is too good to refuse .. Still like checking it out under the Loop , things pretty neat looking .. And noticed another little "LINE" right underneath Lincolns Bust (if you look at the Second to last photo , there is a little line under neath Lincoln just to the Right of the larger ding along the rim ..) But thanks again for the kind words and insight .. One of my favorites so far Phil \m/

No problem, it was just a friendly reminder to all. I read it as being in fun, but wanted to chime in before a bidding war started. I know how easy it is to get caught up in the moment.
