A professional coin dealer friend of mine once referred to Krause pricing as akin to the product of a random number generator. Maybe a little too harsh.
I have all four of the Krause books covering the last four hundred years. They are an essential tool for the collector of World coins of this whole period.
I have a copy of 'Renniks Australian Coin and Banknote Values'. (Printed and published in Australia.) An uncirculated 1966 5 Cents is listed at $8.
If I were to buy one at a coin show, I would consider paying about $4 for an uncirculated example. As it turns out, I don't really collect Australian coins! I have but a few interesting ones only. Interestingly, there are far more U.S. coins in my collection than Aussie ones.
The differences in the exchange rate at this price level are negligible.
