Hey all! I have decided to start putting together a date-mint mark set for the Seated dime series. I aim on acquiring lower grade coins to fill up my album. It amazes me when I see the prices that are attached to this series. You would think that with mintage numbers this small that the prices would be astronomical, yet they are not. Why is this the case? Is it a series that not many collect? If so I do not know why. The coins are beautiful and have rich histories. As of right now I have only eight out of the 120 holes in my album. A small, meager number, but it is a start. Everything I have I found at local antique and flea market sales. I currently have: 1838 large stars 1853 w/ arrows 1856 small date 1876 1885 1886 1888 S 1890 Other than ebay, where else on the web is a good place to find these coins for reasonable prices? Thanks for reading! I appreciate any feedback, wether it be good or bad

Well, to start off, you can post a want list. Just post it in the want list section and then wait for the replays to flood in :)

Some of those are going to be a real doozy, especially some of the CC mints. Do you know what condition you are aiming for?

Thwy send out multipaged catalogs. Just got the lastest one and it has about a third of a page of those Dimes. Be carefull of HJB. Famous for cleaned coins and lousy return policy. I too like But haven't bought anything from them for a while.

A great start. Good luck with completing the set. I get mine from ebay and visiting coin shows. Those are great sites. Thanks for sharing.

Surprisingly, I've found Seated Liberty dimes in dealer red boxes for anywhere from 10-20 dollars grading in G to F. The places where you will run into trouble price-wise is the 1844, Civil War era Philadelphias, early Carson City mints, and a couple of the early 1880s. This is one reason why I am working on date-only sets, I can avoid several of these pricier branch mint issues. A collector on a tight budget.....

I love Seated dimes! One thing I always try to make sure is that the dime has a full rim, bothers me if it doesn't hehe. They are possible to find at the right price if you look hard :)
