I'm having a difficult time picking new album(s) for a newly aquired Jefferson set(1938-2002, and, I have virtually all 2003-2012 now to almost finish a standard set, with proofs) Here's my question..does the dansco 8113 w. proofs have slots for BOTH 1968-s BS & s-proof, 69 same, and, 1970 same? I hope so...and, in this album, what year do proof slots begin, 1962? The Harris & Co US Mint album my 1938-2002 coins came in just won't work..for example, the owner put a 1961-P PROOF coin in the business strike slot, same for 63, 64, 68, & 1970, so, I have to find BU BS coins for those slots, and, move the proof coins elsewhere...at some point, I want to try and get EVERY year proof 5c...1938, 1939, 1940, 1941 T-I, 1942-P, and 1950-present. I have a feeling I will have to buy a blank page, and, make my own small proof page..I see dansco is coing out with a new 5c album--2006 w. proofs to I believe 2016..it's not out yet... If you have ideas on any other maker that covers more slots and years, let me know please.. I've already discussed the satin-finish dilemma..I know those 2005-2010 5c coins will have to have their own hybrid page. CG

I looked on coin wizard...the page 3 starts proof slots at 1971...sorry, but that's a bit frustrating..I don't know why they don't start proofs at an earlier year, like at least 1958 onward...not collector-friendly IMHO. An "complete" album with proofs really should be just that. cg

The #8113 starts the proofs at 1971, the first year of the proof only issue. This is the same convention used on other Dansco albums (e.g. Lincoln, Roosevelts)

"Proof Only" is the key descriptor. For the unrepresented proof years there is also a business strike from the same mint; so there is only one hole, making the album owner choose. The assumption is that a collector will always fill a hole with a proof instead of a business strike, since the proof is a "collector only" coin. I am not justifying or in any way agreeing with the decision, but that is what they were thinking.

Well, if anybody knows of a true COMPLETE Jefferson album, or set of, let me know...I don't like writing on my pages...Dansco has no slots for the Satin Finish nickels..It just is a mind blower why someone cannot make a true complete album...I have acummulated proof nickels going back to 1953(will shoot for ALL proofs)..if I were designing the album, it would have proofs from 1950 to date...and, the top 10 at least errors and varieties....anybody want to open a new business with me, making coin albums that make sense?(cents?)

Maybe a 3 ring binder with 2x2s would work best for you. There's a lot of different ways to build an album and the only thing that matters is how you want to do it. Good Luck and it sounds like quite an endeavor.

Quote: There's a lot of different ways to build an album... Very true and almost certainly why the album/folder companies only have a 2-3 versions of each kind of set. They wouldn't make any money (or the folders would be much more expensive) if they had to print and stock sets with holes and printing for all the various ways people would want to collect. Now maybe they or someone could consider an on-demand-type folder. You would know you were going to pay (probably a lot) extra for the individual attention but you could customize it how you wanted, then "they" would manufacture for you. I have doubts that it would work well for such a small market as coin collectors though.

You could take a blank Dansco and come up with a custom print scheme per someones specifications. Instead of applying each date/hole, you would organize how you like each page of the album and print one page at a time. Perhaps something like silk screening or pad printing.

I'll write them..thanks JBuck...my dream album would have ports for: PROOFS..1938 to present Gigantic S Mint Mark, 1942-S, $3-S, 44-S, 45-S 1965-66-67 SMS AND Business-Strike issues 1994 & 1997 SMS 5c All Satin Finish Coins 2005-2010 Ports for Top 20 DDO / DDR Ports for top 25 RPM/OMM All Small & Large S Mint mark coinage(1941-S, and 1981-S T-II-they only have 1 port for the 81-S T-I, in existing album, I believe) Ports for any Inverted Mint mark dates Am I forgetting anything else? Might as well go for an antique cover/boards, with marbled endpapers, and, a printed page with mintages for each year.
