Would you say this is PMD or that the lamination is coming off...that is what it looks like to me. Thanks!

It's just discolored and corroded from environmental damage.

Hey rocktown -

I With the captain here ..(from the photos that is) Dosnt seem to be a lamination dealie ..

here is an example for you , not my coin but something I think may show you an example of the lamination peel like deal ..

just for you to note and know about

this was noted as "Lamination Peel"

Thats the great thing about this site , if your open minded and willing to learn you will catch on .. I find its easier once you SEE what is what .. which takes some time thats for sure ..!!

u happen to have any resource pages saved? John1 Is the Link master lol . I have all kinds of likners if you would like some leme know ill post them for you to browse through if needed ..

And , I Think you should keep it .. This is the best part of our hobby .. Its something YOU like (i like the colors I'm sure in hand is NICE)... If you could see half the stuff I have you would lol .. Gotta love it tho , me and my pop are getting a "Toned" cent book together , may take time but can never put them back haha ..

A 1984 wouldn't have a lamination because it is copper plated zinc. Your coin is PMD.

1984 Cents were zincolns with copper plating. The plating may discolor/get dipped into something to change the color. But the zinc doesn't fall apart like the lamintion on copper cents. Plating may peel, but it is not a lamination issue.
