Guys dont get me wrong I'm happy for a gift from my parents, but when I receive a replica gold coin that they were told was real is bad right?

Yes, that sounds like a bad thing. At least the parents are trying to get you something nice. You should take the opportunity to explain to them how you can tell the coin is a replica. Then, gently suggest that they consult with you in the future to ensure other potential gifts are better matches for your collecting interests.

Any chance the replica coin can be returned? If it was sold as real and turns out to be a fake the seller should be held accountable.

If you're in Metro Atlanta, there is a coin show in Marietta Sunday.

Gifts are always a tuff call if they are fakes, copies, etc. Those that gave them to you tried to do something nice. Kind of difficult to tell them they got taken. Almost worth just not saying anything but suggesting not to buy of those. To late now from what you said though.

That is a shame that your parents purchased a replica gold coin thinking it was real. I never had this happen to me, whenever my father would buy me new coins, he would always take me to either a coin show or shop so I can examine them in person. My father realized I knew more about coins than he did and felt more comfortable making a purchase with me present, even if it was my gift.

Man, I hope they didn't pay too much. I hope it wasn't one of those TV "gold bufflos"! Those deceptive commercials drive me insane.
