Hello,

About a year ago I was given two auction catalogs from my ex-wife's uncle's estate. While the catalogs are interesting to read, I would like to get rid of them. One is from the 27th annual Chicago International Coin Fair (CICF) in 2002. The other one is the 13th annual New York International Numismatic Convention (NYINC) from 2002. Both catalogs are over 200 pages long and have B/W photos. I know nothing about either auction and I am moving into a new apartment with limited space available.

Do people collect these either for references or other reasons?
Are they worth selling on ebay or some other site?
Should I just recycle them?

Thank you,

Christopher

Well from what I've learned from Pawn Stars yes those can potentially be valuable. I know nothing of what was in those auctions or about those auctions and have no clue if there is anything special about it. Try googling around a bit about potential value of the book ect or you could try putting it on ebay. Worse comes to worse youre out a free listing for the month

Both catalogs cover World and Ancient coins. The beginning of both catalogs starts out with Greek and Roman coins. Then it goes into medieval coinage, colonial coinage, and then more modern world coins. It goes in chronological order.

I did an internet search but I couldn't find anything about how desirable these are.

You can make a few bucks selling them on ebay.

Seems there are a lot of World and Ancient collectors on the forum. Perhaps post pics of the catalogs in the Trades forum to see if there is any interest. You may be able to add a coin or two to your collection instead of just recycling them.

I have a bunch of Stack's auction catalogs from the last few years that I posted in the trade section several months ago. I didn't get any response on them.....probaly worth posting yours but I wouldn't expect a huge response.

Maybe I will post them, I don't have high hopes on these considering one of my options is to recycle them.

I'd take them for a little silver ( 25¢-50¢) just to keep them from a shredder.....

The only bad thing about these catalogs is they came from the house of a smoker.

amida, you have tempted me, if there is enough interest in them I may post them in the trade section.

For example, I just bought on ebay this catalogue for over $100
because it's a great reference for the Dutch counting jettons.

There are people that collect almost anything. If you look long enough, you may find one that collects those.
