So, I had a 12 mile run this weekend (Tough Mudder) and I drove 400 miles to the event and stopped by 8 banks on the way. I heard some cool stories (see below for one story), but didn't have any real luck of any of the places. However, the LAST place I went to I asked if they had any large dollars (and made a large circle with my fingers) or half dollars. She said "YES!" I say which one? She says "BOTH!" I ask, how many large dollars do you have? She asks, "How many do you want?" My eyes light up and I rethink... wait a minute. I say again "Large dollars, silver coins". She says, "Ooooh, I thought you meant $100 bills."

Other than that HUGE letdown, I got a bunch of Ikes, no silver. Is there a way to see know which types they are and are any types worth more than a buck?

Thanks all!

I don't know about the coins, but that sounds like one keeper of a woman.

I think she might be related to the teller at my bank.

Yesterday, I asked the teller if the bank had any rolls of half dollars. She also asked me how many I wanted. I said 30 dollars worth and she handed me 3 empty bank rolls.

By me at all the banks tellers tell me they are not allowed to order them, hand out any to customers, etc. That is both halves and large dollar coins. If they should get any from a customer, they are told to put them aside and they will be sent to the Federal Researve.
