Just kidding! But I got your attention I bet!

Anyway....

Question is, I love sharing my Lincoln collection and talking about it. But let's be honest here. Someone who doesn't have an interest generally in coins, needs a little more of a visual than a Dansco, Whitman or TPG Slab to really appreciate the collection(s) that some of us have put so much time thought and money into curating.

How do you display your coins? Any cool pictures you can share? I was thinking of actually building something of a display sort that tells a story. Also was thinking of putting an artistic spin on my Lincoln's, maybe some sort of acrylic display using UL Wire (thin thin fluorescent wires that are multi colored) to maybe play on History and evolution of technology.

I'd love to see what some of you have done.

Until the last year I would display some of my more appealing coins and bank notes. I tend to frame some of my coins. I have a collection of 4 roman Tesserae mounted in a 4x6 frame on a white background. Another one of my favorite displays was my collection of banknotes from around the world. I took one bill from every country I had and mounted it in a large frame with some information about what country it came from. Since I had over 30 different bank notes It made an nice large collection to display. I am in the process of mounting some different Lincoln coins and bars in a frame next to a Brady Picture of Lincoln.

spider-

I think there are some 999 copper Lincoln bars that should fit in nicely.

Plenty on ebay, you just have to search gooder.

ebay > copper rounds Lincoln > fer example:

Banks and liberries like to have ppl make inexpensive displays. Liberries especially like to have a "coin expert" give a little talk, and will sometimes let ppl call you with questions.

May be a new way to get stuph for your collections.

I have a big Fort Knox that probably weighs over a thousand pounds. A thief would have to force me to open it but that's only if I don't get to one of my guns first. Haha, good luck.

Biggfredd, copper bars are a good idea, I don't own any of those yet. They would add some nice color to it.

I checked to see if I had any pics from my Bank Note display, but I was unable to find any. I will take some pictures of my Lincoln Display, Tesserae, and re displayed Bank Note collection as soon as I complete it. I am moving into an new apartment in two weeks so I am going to need something nice to display on my walls.

Displaying anything of value USED to be what many people did to impress others. HOWEVER, with todays crime rates, it is difficult to even leave a penny on a table in your own home. May sound paranoid to those that live in areas of little crime, but for the largest portion of our world, crime is now a way of life. No one is safe today displaying coins, stamps, guns, knives, etc.
A nieghbor of mine was robbed of his Gold Coins he had been collecting. The thief? His own grandson. I live in an area where it is bragged on TV when the murder rate drops below 700/year. Less than 50,000 auto thefts makes the news.
Displaying coins in many areas is just not smart.

Introducing Luigi... go ahead mess with him!

LOL... I'm kidding, yes its my cat, but I do know that it is a security issue.

Long ago I started using Capital Plastics holders. I've even gone so far as to have custom holders made for large and Half Cents. So with the stock holders I have a cent collection from 1793 to Date all in Capital holders. One nice thing about Capital holders is that they are 8" wide so they fit into a bank safe deposit box.

Almost impossible to get a decent picture with the glare from the plastic, but here is one pic, the IHC holder.

In my experience people who don't collect coins are not impressed with them. Even if the coins are valuable or old all they will say is "neat" or why don't you just sell them and but a "fill in the blank." That said I don't see a point in displaying coins since they will most likely not be appreciated and may invite a thief. And not necessarily an armed robber think bug man, maid, or someone else invited into your home.

Now I do have $200 trillion Zimbabwe dollars that I have framed in my office. And honestly people are more interested in them than any coin I have.
