It looks like normal date setting to me. Any help would be appreciated.

It's a Near Date 6A. I'm assuming, of course, that it has the characteristic pitting which isn't pictured here.

VAM-1A doesn't exist, to a near-certainty. People have been looking for one for years, and none has shown up. Here's my 6A, for comparison:

SuperDave, Thank You.I saw that info on VAM World also. I was pretty sure it was the 6A. I picked this up on e-bay. It was advertised as the 1A. I had my doubts from the start. The seller has a return policy. If I decide to send it back.

It's a fascinating variety, but pretty common. If you gave any premium over "regular" price for the grade, return it.

At that price, it's a keeper especially if you're forming a VAM collection of any sort. Pitted Reverses outside 1921 aren't frequent, so even though it's a relatively common coin it has an uncommon feature.

Welcome to the Top 100.

SuperDave, I have another question. If the VAM 1A doesn't exist(to near certainty), how did the VAM 1A come to be?

I think it was an honest disagreement of opinion regarding whether the 6A was a "Near" or "Normal" date. It's borderline. We're accustomed to the instantaneous exchange of electronic data and images from the Internet; back in that day, such didn't exist and in many cases discussions went on between people who'd never seen each others' examples of the same coin. 1A was deprecated when people started exchanging images and realized they were talking about the same coin.
